In my last post I referred to the Angels of the Earthly Mother and of the Heavenly Father. The Essene Gospel texts give contemplative readings for each of these for every day of the week. Even shorter ones and longer ones! Let’s start with Day One – which I consider to be Sunday. Fittingly for that day, the “Angel of the Morning” is the Angel of Sun. Here is some of the short version of homage to the Angel of the Sun: “…. Angel of the Sun! There is no warmth without thee, No life without thee, The green leaves of the trees Do worship thee, And through thee is the tiny wheat kernel Become a river of golden grass…. …Holy messenger of the Earthly Mother, Enter the holy temple within me And give me the Fire of Life!” As we’re outside on a sunny day, we can consider the variety of blessings the sun bestows on us and all life. It brings life back to the plant kingdom in the Spring; it warms us in times of cold. The bright yellow of the sun’s rays can brighten our mood. I have heard that the element of Spirit is fire. So while we are surrounded by sunlight, let’s become aware that Spirit is in the sun's light all around us. Its gifts can be energy, life force, expansiveness and power. Breathe it in and feel it move through our being. Experience appreciation for the Sun. And have a bright day.
