The Eupsychia BreathworkJourney

About the Process

This experience usually involves partnering the participants, so one will “sit” for the other as the music plays. This witness (the “sitter”) keeps the “breather’s” space safe and can provide the breather with water, tissues, a hand to hold, and sometimes assistance with the breather’s process is guided by the facilitator. Some have shared that the sitting role was deeper and more sacred than their journeying.

Timeframe

Given that there are two musical sets and two artwork sessions in this type of format, Eupsychia events are at least one day in length. Weekend retreats (Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday until 1:00) provide time to fully experience inner work and can be topic-specific.

Let Susan know if you have interest in a longer format. 4-day and 6-day retreats are also possibilities.

For an Introduction

BUT… if you want an introductory experience that’s not as long, it’s possible to do a version that does not include the partnering.

Everyone journeys at the same time and the music set can be closer to 75 minutes. Artwork and the verbal sharing at the end are still included, and the process takes about 6 hours.

Post Journey

People can go to very deep places in their journeys and are still mildly “altered” when they leave, so it is strongly encouraged that one not have other commitments after a Breathwork experience. (For example, if your event ends at 4:00, it is not suggested that you have a dinner party planned for that same evening.) Your post-journey time can be used to nurture yourself through mild exercise or dance, walks, journaling, more artwork, a massage or other “me time” activities.

Reflections

Many people find that these workshops help them become aware of unconscious patterns that affect their quality of life. What happens is very unique to each individual - Susan does not verbally guide the process in any way. The music serves as the "guide," allowing for memories, emotions, insights, and even physical responses and improvements to take place during its trajectory.

Testimonials

"Susan Moyer introduced me to breathwork several years ago. Since then, I have participated as a ‘breather’ or as a ‘sitter’ for other participants, and am enrolled in a certification program for the technique. Based on my experience, I believe most people could benefit from experiencing breathwork. Our culture is typified by stress-filled lives, with values that don’t align with our purpose in this life. The Eupsychia method allows relatively easy access to the core self, and with reflection, the ability to make real life changes.

My own breathwork experiences have been very valuable. Each session has been different, providing opportunity for insight, reflection, change, and peace with my own purpose. I have learned about personal issues that need work, experienced help and guidance, felt intense feelings of love and support, and learned how this technique allows me to see and work on them. As a ‘sitter’ for others participating in breathwork, I have witnessed many similar, deeply moving experiences.

Susan is a certified, thoughtful, and compassionate local breathwork practitioner, with many years’ experience facilitating workshops. Whether you are new to breathwork, or have participated in many sessions, I recommend working with Susan."

“Susan creates the Eupsychia Process of Breathwork space for us as if ‘holding camp’ during a vision quest - with reverence, strength, a sense of humor, professionalism and power, always aware of the inner and outer significance of simple body movements or emotions.

I recommend this work for anyone who is ready and willing to go deeper into your awareness and personal process.”

"Eupsychia's Integrative Breathwork is a powerful and efficient process to deepen one's understanding of themself as they go through their path of self-discovery.

In the 30 years of practicing psychotherapy, I have only seen a few methods that are as fast at jump starting a stuck point in one's healing process as Eupsychia Breathwork. Breathwork cuts through the mustard when talk therapy may not.

One of the most important aspects of the psychotherapeutic process is
to emotionally integrate what an individual intellectually understands.  Eupsychia Breathwork is an efficient method of achieving this significant step.

If done with a skilled facilitator, this work can foster a deepening of emotional integration of significant life experiences more
efficiently than many other therapeutic interventions.  Susan Moyer is a very skilled and sensitive clinician who offers this life enriching pathway to healing.”

Michael L., Spokane, WA

Resource

Since her retirement, Jacquelyn Small has closed Eupsychia's doors. It was located in Austin, TX, where psychotherapist Karen Finley-Breeding continues to offer the process. Integrative Breathwork is being used as a treatment modality at Austin’s Council on Recovery substance abuse treatment program (http://www.councilonrecovery.org/residential-treatment, where it’s mentioned as “musical journeying”), as well as other area chemical dependency programs. Its efficacy in this field has been studied by University of Texas School of Social Work.
